Privacy Policy

Motive · Effective date: October 8, 2026
Operator: DAM Studio · Contact: [email protected]

This Privacy Policy describes how DAM Studio (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in connection with the Motive iOS application (“Motive” or the “App”). Please read it carefully.

1. Overview

Motive is a habit tracker and to-do app. When you complete tasks, you earn unlock minutes that can temporarily unblock apps you have limited with Apple Screen Time. Earned minutes expire at the end of each day.

Motive does not require an account or registration. Core app data stays on your device. We do not operate Motive backend servers that receive your tasks, history, or profile content.

2. Information stored on your device

The following are stored only locally on your device (in the App’s container and/or UserDefaults), are not sent to our servers, and are deleted when you use Delete all data in Profile or when you delete the App:

Child mode PIN

If a parent enables Child mode, the parental PIN is stored locally in the iOS Keychain only as a SHA-256 hash. We do not store the PIN in plain text.

3. Apple Screen Time / Family Controls

Motive uses Apple Family Controls and Managed Settings (Screen Time) so you can select apps or categories to block and temporarily unlock them with earned minutes.

Apple’s handling of related data is governed by Apple’s own policies. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.

4. Notifications

Motive uses local notifications only (for example, task reminders and unlock-ending alerts). We do not operate push-notification servers for Motive.

5. Purchases

In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store (StoreKit). We do not receive your payment card details or full payment credentials. Apple’s terms and privacy practices apply to payment processing. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.

6. Third parties

Superwall

We use Superwall (superwall.com) to present paywalls and help manage subscription-related experiences. Superwall may receive:

We do not send task titles, profile names, avatars, or other personal content to Superwall.

Superwall processes data under its own privacy policy. Please review Superwall’s Privacy Policy.

Apple

Apple provides the App Store, StoreKit, and Screen Time / Family Controls frameworks. Apple may process information as described in Apple’s Privacy Policy.

What we do not use

Motive does not include other analytics or advertising SDKs. Motive does not show ads. We do not sell your personal information.

7. Children and Child mode

Motive offers a Child mode intended for use by a child under a parent’s or guardian’s control. A parent enables Child mode and sets a PIN on the device.

Motive does not collect children’s personal information. When Child mode is enabled, Superwall may receive only the Child mode flag and the aggregated counters described above — not names, task content, or other personal details.

Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising a child’s use of the App and for Screen Time settings on the device. If you believe we have received information from a child in a way that concerns you, contact us at [email protected] and we will review the request in light of applicable laws such as COPPA and GDPR provisions relating to children, where they apply.

This section describes our practices; it is not a certification or membership claim under any children’s privacy program.

8. Your choices and rights

Access and deletion (on-device data)

Because core Motive data is stored only on your device, you control it directly. To delete it, use Delete all data in Profile or delete the App from your device.

Superwall-related data

To request access to or deletion of data that Superwall may hold in connection with your use of Motive, email [email protected]. We will assist as reasonably possible, which may include coordinating with Superwall.

GDPR / CCPA (general)

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of personal information, to object to certain processing, or to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information as those terms are defined under applicable law. We do not sell personal information. Because most Motive data never leaves your device, many requests are fulfilled by deleting local data as described above. For any remaining request, contact [email protected]. We may need information sufficient to verify your request. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority where applicable.

9. Data retention

On-device data remains until you delete it or remove the App. Third parties such as Apple and Superwall retain information according to their own policies and agreements with us.

10. Security

We rely on iOS platform protections for on-device storage (including Keychain for the Child mode PIN hash). No method of storage is perfectly secure. You are responsible for physical access to your device and for keeping iOS and the App updated.

11. International users

DAM Studio operates from Kyrgyzstan. If you use Motive from another country, your on-device data remains on your device; information processed by Apple or Superwall may be handled in other countries subject to their policies.

12. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the effective date. Continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy, to the extent permitted by law.
